Caricature of Boss

by Ryan Landry on January 2, 2016 No comments

This caricature is framed and mounted and was created as a surprise for a retired boss in the railroad business. Personalized caricatures involve hobbies and images all around that are associated with that person’s life.  I like to throw in a couple Easter eggs to make it fun. By Easter eggs I mean an inside joke or something extra.

Mascot work

This was a specific request from a Vietnam war vet that was trying to jump start a side business of T-Shirts and bottle openers made from bullets.  I created some images in vector form so it doesn’t lose shape or pixellate if you want to create a poster or logo on letterhead.

Vector graphics is the use of polygons to represent images in computer graphics. Vector graphics are based on vectors, which lead through locations called control points or nodes. Each of these points has a definite position on the x- and y-axes of the work plane and determines the direction of the path; further, each path may be assigned various attributes, including such values as stroke color, shape, curve, thickness, and fill.

Dog Portrait for a Friend

by Ryan Landry on January 2, 2016 No comments

This was a special portrait for me. I met a young couple, both graduates from Iowa State while I was drawing caricatures at the Agricultural Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs. I got a chance to talk to them and they expressed interest in a portrait. After I drew this portrait, they said it brought a tear to his mother. Art can be emotional and can last forever.  It is a well thought out investment. Art can capture a moment in time.  Each subject takes about 4-5 hours. There are no short cuts when it comes to one of my portraits.  My secret to an excellent drawing is to put as much detail in the paws as one puts detail in the face. Every hair or every part of the body needs to be treated with attention – and that is what I think separates me from other artist.  Details.

I made a link to the Agricultural Hall of Fame – I find this an amazing location to host a company party.  It is kid friendly and is rich in farming history.

Finger Print Tree Wedding Reception

by Ryan Landry on January 2, 2016 No comments

This is just a wonderful idea for people getting married! Have a tree drawn and use your fingerprints to decorate the tree! Use multiple colors, initial or write a message, autograph your print! This is so exciting and so easy! Couples can even make a heart out of two thumb prints….

This tree can have engraved initials of the couple getting married or tire swing with a message on the wall of the tire…. This is EASY and SO fun! After everyone is done, you have an amazing picture to hang on your wall to remember your wonderful wedding day.

Please contact me – it is not much money to pay for and it will last a life time!

This can also be used for graduations, birthdays, retirement parties.

Kris Kobach Political Caricature

by Ryan Landry on January 2, 2016 No comments

TIME OUT! This is NOT a political post. We live in a democracy.  Our country is very much divided. I have my agenda and that is to create art. No I wouldn’t draw a picture of Hitler if he asked me – that is stupid so don’t ask. My family is completely divided especially after this last election. I have drawn Barak Obama and George Bush and Bill Clinton.  As a cartoonist, I am responsible for what I draw. I choose to take a neutral view in art and keep my personal beliefs out of the frame.  So if I lean left or to the right it is just the sign of times.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

by Ryan Landry on January 2, 2016 No comments

I have had the pleasure to draw at many cool events.  The Air Show at Forbes Field in Topeka. I got the chance to learn about historic planes, see amazing cars. Car people are fanatics. Some people put so much time and money into their cars that it becomes a crime to even drive them. And I never understood that.

It is a cool event for me to annually attend the BNSF Family Day.  People get together and on display are amazing trains, historic trains.

If you have a corporate event and need a little flash and you are tired of handing out swag – hire a caricature artist with your logo or promo on the bottom of every page. A pencil gets lost and a balloon gets popped. Not even a t-shirt has the same impact as a potential client drawn on a paper that they can show to their friends and may end up in a frame – with your logo on it!!
